@iamlost - Oh, how true!

Vos vestros servate, meos mihi linquite mores

- You cling to your own ways and leave mine to me.

Petrarch

Perhaps, when dealing with someone who does not speak one's language, the odd, gently determined semi-trample of each other's sensibilities should be greeted as an act of hope... even when accidental, or especially when accidental. :-)

Have you ever made a faux pas in an unfamiliar language? I'm talking paradigm wobble like that, more than just not knowing words.

The great male, female divide.
The adult, child disconnect.

When we so consistently fumble innate organic change and difference it is a wonder we ever progressed past swinging a stick.

Fortunately we have the curiosity and imagination of our children.

Sometimes it is like a sliding scale of paradigms. I know fully well how much I don't know, but to many of my friends I seem like some kind of geek whiz. A matter of comparisons...

But my husband is on the extreme end of technology challenged. He is a brilliant artist but does not think in ways that work well with computers.

In fact, before I met him, someone gave him a digital watch he tried to set. It went into the twilight zone. He tried harder. It went further into the twilight zone.

He finally solved it by opening the wood stove and throwing it into the fire! He has never owned a digital watch since then.

Everyone was astounded when I got him using a cellphone connected to a credit card terminal. But he declines to work with computers, which is ok with me, as I recall the wood stove.

That might require a paradigm shift squared.
